TOKYO RELIFE CLINIC Launches Clinical Study on Aging Control

Tokyo Relife Clinic (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Yoshiaki Furuyama) will launch a randomized double-blind controlled clinical trial in October 2025 for patients with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI). The study will evaluate the effects of an exosome nasal spray on cognitive function, muscle, and immune aging.

Exosomes, nano-sized vesicles that have drawn global attention in regenerative medicine, possess diverse biological activities including neuroprotection, muscle regeneration, and immune modulation. While preclinical studies have suggested their safety and efficacy, this clinical trial aims to scientifically validate both their safety and therapeutic potential.

This research will also be conducted as part of a collaborative project with the Goda Laboratory, Endowed Chair on Cellular Senescence Control at the Graduate School of Science, the University of Tokyo. The Goda Laboratory has been selected as one of the Top 40 global semifinalist teams in the XPRIZE Healthspan competition organized by the XPRIZE Foundation, and is highly regarded in the academic community. Tokyo Relife Clinic will serve as a clinical partner, advancing research directly involving patients.

【Study Title】

Effects of an Exosome Nasal Formulation on Cognitive Function, Immune Aging, and Muscle Strength in Middle-aged and Elderly Individuals
— A Randomized Double-Blind Controlled Clinical Trial —

【Social Significance】

Approximately 20% of elderly individuals are estimated to suffer from Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), sarcopenia, or immune aging. However, fundamental therapeutic options for these conditions remain lacking. This study aims not merely at “appearance,” but at rejuvenation of “function,” offering a transformative approach to address age-related health challenges.
