Study Title ‘Effects of an Exosome Nasal Spray on Cognitive Function, Immune Aging, and Muscle Strength in Middle-aged and Elderly Individuals’
— A Randomized Double-Blind Controlled Trial —
【Purpose of the Study】
With aging, many people experience changes such as “declining memory,” “reduced physical strength,” or “increased susceptibility to colds.” These changes are associated with cellular aging, but regenerative medicine may provide opportunities to slow down or even improve them.
In this study, exosomes derived from iPS cells (induced pluripotent stem cells) will be administered as a nasal spray (absorbed through the nasal passages), to scientifically evaluate their potential effects on:
- Cognitive function (memory, judgment, etc.)
- Immune function (resistance against infections)
- Muscle strength (walking speed, grip strength, etc.)
This study is also part of the global scientific initiative XPRIZE Healthspan , conducted in collaboration between the Goda Laboratory at the University of Tokyo and Tokyo Relife Clinic.
Through this research, we aim to help older adults maintain better health and vitality, and explore innovative approaches to extending healthy lifespan.
